Abstract

Ricardo Ibarlucía's *Beauty Without Aura: Surrealism and the Theory of Art in Walter Benjamin* is undoubtedly the most important book written in Spanish on Benjamin, and one of the most important books on Benjamin, Surrealism, and the materialist theory of art ever written in any language. When I use the expression "most important," I mean that it is simultaneously an illuminating and erudite book, enormously ambitious, but also rigorous and profound. We are, therefore, faced with an impressive work that, in addition to directly engaging with the source texts, is attentive to all the relevant literature on the subject, which is considerable.
