Freedom, justice, equality, and autonomy are the threads that make up the red rope that runs through the pages of Marxistas y liberales. The search for agreements proposed by the author draws from the main tenets of egalitarian liberalism, while maintaining an unwavering struggle against economic liberalism, hegemonic neoliberalism, and rising libertarianism. This work by Fernando Lizárraga assumes that, if socialism cannot affirm its fundamental convictions through a supposed scientific certainty about historical destiny, the most realistic alternative is to base them on ethics. Those who take socialism, revolution, freedom, equality, fraternity, and the utopian horizon seriously need to recognize the importance of the dialogue between Marxism and the egalitarian versions of Liberalism. This dialogue between traditions derived from the Enlightenment becomes crucial in the face of identity tribalism and the subjectivism of the current neo-romantic cultural logic.
